Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Waxahachie ISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students, promoting health education, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and medical professionals to ensure the well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide temporary and emergency care for sick and injured students or staff according to district policy and procedures.
- Serve as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
- Coordinate the management system to administer medications to students at school, ensuring compliance with district policy and procedures.
- Perform screening procedures as required by the Texas Department of Health, Texas Educational Agency, and district policy, making referrals as necessary.
- Develop and coordinate continuing evaluation of the campus health program, making changes based on findings.
- Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
- Provide health counseling and instruction to individual students, consulting with parents and medical professionals as needed.
- Serve as a health liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community, assessing student problems and making appropriate referrals.
- Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, crisis team, and school committees, reporting suspected child abuse and making home visits as necessary.
- Review and evaluate immunization records, enforcing procedures to ensure proper program administration according to district policy.
- Supervise and train nurse aide(s) in clinic procedures and responsibilities, compiling, maintaining, and filing all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
- CPR Certification.
- Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
