Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Mount Desert Island Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals of all ages, from initial assessment to discharge.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients, identify their needs, and develop individualized care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Implementation and Evaluation: Implement care plans, monitor patient progress, and make adjustments as needed to ensure the highest level of care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Education and Training: Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in emergency nursing.
- Education: Current Maine RN license or eligibility through the Nursing License Compact.
- Certifications: Annual CPR certification, biannual ACLS and PALS, and TNCC every four years. ENPC is encouraged.
- Experience: Proficiency in medication administration, nursing process, and emergency or critical care/telemetry nursing experience, including experience as a charge nurse.
- Skills: Proficient IV skills, basic computer skills, and familiarity with information systems, computerized charting, and monitoring systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for an 8 or 12-hour shift, adequate hearing, vision, speech, and manual dexterity to communicate with patients and complete daily tasks.
- Cognitive Demands: Emotional maturity, good people skills, ability to take in, process, and apply clinical information, and ability to work calmly and effectively in emergent situations.
