About the Position

At Jane Street, Python plays a vital role in our research and trading work, serving as the primary language for data analysis, visualization, and machine learning. Our Python developer tools team is responsible for creating the tools that support our work in Python, including:

  • Continuous Integration for running tests and static analysis
  • Automation of Python environment and application deployment
  • Libraries for building hybrid Python/OCaml systems

We're seeking experienced engineers with a background in building Python tooling at large scale who want to leverage their skills in a new environment.

The job involves a wide range of technical and product design challenges, from optimizing our static analysis and test harnesses to working with users to understand their workflows and requirements and designing solutions that meet their needs.

We're also looking for someone who can contribute to guiding our Python ecosystem, helping us establish and communicate best practices, and make informed decisions about the tools and libraries we use.

While much of our automation and Python tooling is written in OCaml, we're happy to provide training and don't expect prior experience with OCaml or any other functional programming language.
