Epic Travel Staffing is seeking a Travel RN for a Medical Surgical Unit.
Shift Details: Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, working 12-hour shifts, totaling 48 hours per week. We are also open to candidates preferring 36-hour shifts.
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Qualifications:
- Valid IN Nursing License
- At least 2 years of nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification
- Experience in Medical Surgical nursing
- No prior Behavioral Health or Psychiatric experience is necessary
- IV Start experience is preferred
Additional Information:
Flexibility with weekend shifts is essential, as weekend requirements will depend on unit needs. Travelers should be prepared to work 50% of weekends during their contract.
Unit Specifics: This unit requires nurses with Medical Surgical experience. While prior Behavioral Health or Psychiatric experience is not mandatory, candidates must be comfortable working with this patient population. The unit is a secured medical environment, and nurses will care for patients with primary medical diagnoses who may also have a history of mental health issues.
Shift Expectations: Options for 4x12 or 3x12 shifts are available.
Call-In Policy: If a traveler calls in for a scheduled shift, they are expected to make up the shift within the pay period if they are a 0.9 FTE. If unable to do so, the shift will be added to the end of their contract. For 1.2 FTE travelers, any missed shifts will also be added to the end of the contract.
Charge Nurse Responsibilities: Depending on operational needs, travelers may be required to take on charge nurse duties, with appropriate training and resources provided.
Certification Requirements: BCLS certification is required.
Preferred Skills: Experience in Medical Surgical nursing and IV Start capability.
Floating Requirements: Travelers may be asked to float to different levels of care, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU, with resources available as needed.
Staffing Ratios: The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6.
Flu Vaccine Policy: Compliance with flu vaccination is required, with exemptions available for medical or religious reasons.
