Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Transportation Maintenance Technician to join our team at Pasco County Schools. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-driven vehicles and related heavy and specialized equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Conduct inspections and diagnose problems with vehicles and equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure that all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and repaired.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques in the field of automotive repair and maintenance.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; vocational degree or certification in automotive technology preferred.
- At least one year of experience in automotive repair and maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current and valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B, with a Passenger Endorsement 'P' or able to attain within 6 months of employment.
- Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver Plan.
- Current and valid Florida Department of Education School Bus Safety Inspector Certification or able to attain within 2 years of employment.
Additional Requirements:
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening according to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employees Testing Act (OTETA).
- Meet the physical requirements of the Post Offer Employment Testing (POET).
- Submit to and pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests in accordance with the requirements of Florida Statute and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
