Position Summary: As an Inspector, you will be tasked with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflow systems with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections, tests, and maintenance of fire protection systems in compliance with NFPA codes, demonstrating a solid understanding of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, and essential components.
- Document and communicate any deficiencies in fire protection systems to both the company and clients.
- Engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including offsite monitoring firms.
- Utilize tools necessary for inspections, such as heat and smoke detector kits, backflow kits, and pump equipment.
- Plan and execute inspections as scheduled, ensuring timely completion.
- Be available for on-call duties as required to address emergency service and inspection requests.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of the company vehicle as per company policies.
- Safeguard and maintain all assigned tools.
- Adhere to the company's Safety program, including knowledge of safety documentation for each project.
- Participate in ongoing training and seminars to stay updated on technological advancements and best practices.
- Mentor and train new inspector trainees in relevant fire protection aspects.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant certifications such as NICET may be necessary based on location.
Experience and Skills:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inspecting fire protection systems is required; more experience is preferred. Ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential.
- Strong mathematical skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, customer service orientation, decision-making skills, multitasking capability, and organizational skills are required.
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
- Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements is mandatory.
- Knowledge of NFPA, building, and fire codes is essential.
- Experience in conducting inspections of fire sprinkler and alarm systems is required.
Communication and Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English is required.
- Ability to operate computers and tablets, and read electronic blueprints is necessary. Familiarity with Salesforce and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NICET II or III certification is preferred.
