Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Skate Instructor to join our team at the City of Farmington, MN. As a Skate Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching participants how to skate using the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) Learn to Skate USA Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and teach USFSA Learn to Skate USA program lessons to children.
  • Evaluate skating skills of participants in order to determine if the participant has successfully met all the requirements in the level for which they participated.
  • Break down and then demonstrate skating skills on the ice to participants.
  • Provide feedback to participants during skating lessons on what areas are being performed well and what areas need improvement.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of USFSA Learn to Skate USA Program.
  • Ability to effectively teach and communicate with children, including the ability to lead and motivate children.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully demonstrate the skills being taught to participants.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Display a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups.
  • Ability to work different shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and maintain a respectful work environment.
  • Ability to handle stress and stressful situations.
