Job Title: Lead Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Medical Assistant to join our team at Schweiger Dermatology Group. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to physicians, physician assistants, and medical assistants/lpn's by way of supervision and staff development to provide a professional and effective medical operation.

Job Summary:

The Lead Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting office management in successfully running the day-to-day clinical operations of their respective location. This includes supervising and evaluating the day-to-day duties of medical assistants/lpn's, working closely with management to execute all new protocols, and assisting with training needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of and enforce CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations, as well as report and document any incidents to the respective office management.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist office management in supervising and finding coverage for necessary shifts should there be a support staff call out, emergency, or PTO taken.
  • Scan all consumables and retail products to assist office management with maintaining an adequate number, and properly place orders via expense protocol for consumables and retail products.
  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to patients and providers.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of all standard operating protocols and policies that pertain to the clinical department.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all clinical treatments to appropriately care for patient needs.
  • Assist the physician in medical, cosmetic, allergy, and/or laser procedures, prepping exam rooms for all procedures and properly cleaning exam rooms after every visit.
  • Properly assist provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorization, obtaining consents, and/or procedures within established guidelines.
  • Consistently maintain an adequate amount of medical supplies by executing weekly inventory counts, placing bi-weekly medical supply orders, and ensuring all medical equipment is properly maintained.
  • Work with office management to audit consumable tracker and laser logs on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for auditing all specimen logbooks and lab tracker for respective location's providers, ensuring all books are kept up to date and every provider and MA follow proper protocol.
  • Works with MAs, LPNs, and MA Floater to ensure all refill and prior authorization requests, in combination with To Do tasks requests, are handled in a timely fashion at respective locations.
  • Properly cross-train to assist in covering the front desk during emergencies, as needed.
  • Oversee and ensure all required medical forms (written and/or electric) such as consents, EMR notes, lab results, etc. are organized and submitted with accurate data and in a timely manner.
  • Lead by example, maintaining office presence and highest level of professionalism.
  • Must be open to handling any other duties not mentioned above to ensure proper support to the respective office.
  • Maintains effective and constructive communication with office management to instill company values, vision, and protocols in all associated colleagues and providers.
Qualifications:
  • Healthcare experience required.
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred.
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent patient relation and customer services skills.
  • Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated employee.
  • Must have strong critical thinking, problem resolution skills, and be a great multitasker.
  • Prefer prior experience working in a dermatology/medical/cosmetic environment.
  • Medical Assistant Certified strongly encouraged.
