Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Land Surveyor to join our team at the Montana Department of Transportation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and performing professional survey work, including organizing and overseeing survey projects, analyzing evidence to determine boundary locations, and staking/monumenting property boundaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform professional survey work, including organizing and overseeing survey projects
  • Analyze evidence to determine boundary locations and stake/monument property boundaries
  • Coordinate survey reviews to ensure quality, consistency, efficiency, and compliance with established standards and policies
  • Make professional-level survey calculations and carry out complex drafting
  • Provide training to field survey crews and coordinate the operation and maintenance of survey equipment
Requirements
  • Typically acquired through a combination of work experience and/or education, with a preferred candidate having work experience that would equate to an associate degree from correspondence courses or accredited college
  • Qualifying experience may include applied math and science, GIS, surveying or drafting, property title and easement documentation, and an aptitude for problem-solving
  • Surveyor I: $24.80, Surveyor II: $29.49, Surveyor III: $35.44
