Role Responsibilities
The Home Loan Advisor is accountable for the origination of residential first mortgage and equity loans, engaging in various business development initiatives. This role ensures that members receive exceptional mortgage loan origination services in line with VyStar's lending policies and procedures. The advisor will counsel members and gather necessary information to assess credit applications.
- Travel to designated branch locations to originate residential mortgage loans and assist in the solicitation of first mortgages and equity loans, aligning with marketing strategies.
- Conduct interviews with applicants to guide borrowers in selecting suitable loan products tailored to their needs. Clearly articulate loan options and assist individuals throughout the home financing journey. Collect and analyze relevant financial and credit information, inputting data into the loan origination software.
- Maintain ongoing communication with support staff regarding the status of each mortgage loan file and relay updates to members.
- After conducting pre-approval counseling, assign viable transactions to the appropriate Mortgage Loan Officer for further processing.
- Participate in branch sponsorship events to generate new mortgage opportunities.
- Attend branch sales meetings and contribute as a Subject Matter Expert when needed.
- Assist in organizing seminars focused on first-time home buyers and related topics.
- Serve as the primary contact for members regarding refinance transactions, documenting all communications in the mortgage origination software.
- Support the mortgage loan processor and closer in gathering documentation to facilitate a seamless mortgage process.
- Make efforts to attend mortgage loan closings with members.
- Review monthly production reports with management to ensure performance goals are met.
- Promote VyStar's products and services through effective cross-selling techniques.
- Uphold VyStar's mission by delivering prompt and courteous service to members.
- Educate members about available products and services, which is essential for achieving our organizational goals.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling VyStar products and making referrals to other business partners.
- Demonstrate VyStar's core values and provide support to colleagues in the processing unit.
- Proactively work towards departmental and organizational goals.
- Suggest improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency within the mortgage department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of two years of experience in the mortgage, consumer lending, or commercial banking sectors. They must successfully complete National NMLS training and maintain a valid driver's license. A self-motivated and goal-oriented approach, along with excellent communication skills, is essential.
Familiarity with mortgage payment calculators, PCs, and copy machines is required. The candidate should have knowledge of conventional, VA, FHA, and equity loan financing, as well as an understanding of mortgage lending regulations.
Education Requirements
A two-year college degree is the minimum educational requirement, with work experience considered at a 2:1 ratio. The candidate must meet all requirements as a registered mortgage loan originator and comply with the Secure and Fair Enforcement of Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008.
The successful applicant will have strong communication and presentation skills, enabling effective interaction with members and clients to ensure efficient service delivery.
