Wagering Clerk

This position entails a comprehensive review of the essential functions of the role, ensuring that all responsibilities are integral to the performance of primary job duties. The outlined responsibilities are not exhaustive and may include additional tasks as directed by management. 1. Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external patrons, embodying the #AddLife culture in all interactions.
2. Encourage a supportive and motivating atmosphere for team members.
3. Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information in line with company policies and state regulations.
4. Adhere to strict guidelines set forth by the relevant regulatory bodies regarding customer service and financial transactions.
5. Manage a mutuel window, providing courteous service while adhering to ethical standards, including refraining from personal betting.
6. Utilize a teller terminal alongside a cash drawer for transactions.
7. Process wagers with precision, ensuring tickets accurately reflect the wager details, including pool, race, runner, and racetrack.
8. Validate winning tickets by utilizing the ticket reader on the teller's terminal.
9. Assume full accountability for cash handling during the issuance and redemption of mutuel tickets, including managing any discrepancies.
10. Monitor patrons to ensure compliance with age restrictions on wagering.
11. Direct guest complaints to the appropriate supervisor for resolution.
12. Address issues within the scope of authority and recommend solutions for matters beyond that scope to the supervisor.
13. Keep the supervising manager informed of pertinent activities.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, each team member is expected to comply with laws and regulations:

• Participate in mandatory training sessions provided by the company.
• Obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
• Execute duties in accordance with local laws and regulations.
• Ensure minors are prohibited from gambling or loitering in gaming areas, consuming alcohol, or purchasing tobacco products.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant ordinances, regulations, and policies pertaining to the department.
• Be aware of the organization's initiatives to address problem gambling.
• Report any observed misconduct to the appropriate authorities.

Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential; prior experience in cash handling is required. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high situational awareness. Availability during all live race events is necessary.

Virginia Racing Commission License is required.
