Job Overview:

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and operate machinery essential for various maintenance operations. This role includes the use of a variety of equipment such as mid-sized tractors, dump trucks, grass trimmers, and chainsaws, ensuring safe and effective operation. As an Equipment Operator, you may also serve as a Lead Worker, following detailed instructions for new tasks while independently handling routine assignments under the guidance of the Parks Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates a range of machinery including tractors, dump trucks, grass trimmers, and chainsaws.
  • Transports materials and equipment necessary for road maintenance.
  • Engages in physical labor and assists with the loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintains municipal properties by mowing lawns, trimming trees, and clearing weeds, leaves, and snow.
  • Addresses storm damage and ensures the cleanliness of recreational areas and sports facilities.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in park and grounds maintenance.
  • Understanding of automotive equipment mechanics and maintenance.
  • Capability to perform demanding physical labor in varying weather conditions.
  • Possession of a Class 'B' driver's license.
