Role Summary

As a Flexo Press Operator, you will be responsible for managing a flexographic printing press to produce high-quality printed materials efficiently and safely. This role involves setting up plates, inks, dies, and coatings according to specific job requirements. You will also conduct quality assessments to ensure the final product meets all necessary standards. Additionally, your responsibilities will include loading substrates onto the press and accurately recording production data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute standard press operations to support the production team.
  • Analyze job tickets and collaborate with Press Helpers to ensure proper setup according to specifications.
  • Document job setup data within the system.
  • Operate the press in accordance with job specifications and log completion details, including materials used.
  • Monitor printed materials for quality and consistency, focusing on color registration and die cuts.
  • After job completion, transfer finished products to the finishing department and prepare the machine for subsequent jobs.
  • Communicate effectively with the Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager regarding any operational issues.
  • Ensure accurate data collection for each job, including notes on materials and time variances.
  • Assist in troubleshooting press issues alongside the Press Helper and Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company policies and safety standards.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and participate in additional training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in press operation or related production fields.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Understanding of press operations and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Mechanically inclined with a foundational knowledge of press maintenance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Training Requirements:
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory training sessions related to the position.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent lifting, standing, crouching, and walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random screenings.
Work Environment:
  • Regular exposure to dust and noise typical of a production setting.
  • Warehouse temperatures may vary based on external conditions.
  • Frequent contact with ink on skin and clothing.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Safety shoes and eye protection are recommended in the production area.
