KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Crafts and serves a variety of premium coffee beverages, espressos, and specialty drinks in accordance with established standards.
  2. Prepares and presents a selection of baked goods and quick-serve food items for guests.
  3. Delivers outstanding customer service by providing detailed information about coffee blends, preparation techniques, flavor profiles, and ingredients.
  4. Organizes and maintains workstations and displays, ensuring proper separation of allergens and replenishing stock as needed.
  5. Adheres to FIFO (First In, First Out) standards for product freshness and safety.
  6. Measures, grinds, and packages coffee beans for customers based on their preferences.
  7. Operates cash registers and Point of Sale systems accurately, ensuring correct cash handling and transaction processing.
  8. Maintains composure and efficiency during peak service times.
  9. Exhibits flexible availability to meet business needs.
  10. Communicates effectively with management regarding any operational issues.
  11. Collaborates with the Bakery department on sales, inventory management, and ordering processes.
  12. Demonstrates punctuality and reliability by adhering to scheduled shifts and uniform standards.
  13. Monitors daily inventory levels and records items that require reordering.
  14. Keeps storage areas and workspaces organized and clean at all times.
  15. Assists with the receiving, organizing, and rotating of product deliveries.
  16. Completes routine cleaning and maintenance tasks as outlined in the cleaning schedule.
  17. Engages in productive activities during downtime, such as cleaning and restocking, while minimizing personal phone use.
  18. Performs additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Passionate knowledge of coffee, tea, and beverage preparation is essential. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively solve problems is crucial.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience as a barista, particularly with manual espresso machines, is desirable. Experience in maintaining high service standards is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficient oral and written communication skills in English are necessary.

REASONING ABILITY: No significant decision-making is required beyond the scope of essential duties.

CERTIFICATIONS: A Food Handling License is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS: A strong passion for the industry, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to excellence are vital. Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions are necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform various physical tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The role involves interacting with a large number of customers in a bustling café atmosphere, which may be noisy and fast-paced. Floors may become slippery due to beverage preparation.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Typical café equipment includes coffee grinders, espresso machines, brewers, and other kitchen tools, along with standard office supplies.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

$18 per hour plus tips.
