As a Patient Care Technician, you will be integral to advancing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) carries out various care tasks and related services essential for addressing the personal needs, comfort, and safety of a designated patient demographic (ANA Standards of Delegation). The employee must successfully complete job-specific orientation, competencies, and meet or exceed standards as outlined in the performance appraisal criteria. PCTs are expected to demonstrate an understanding of patients' rights in all facets of patient care and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel. The PCT exhibits leadership through the coordination of unit equipment and activities, and communicates relevant findings or observations to the RN while providing patient care and comfort. Additionally, the PCT assists professional staff with fundamental life support principles.
Unit Overview:
On a daily basis, you will be responsible for delivering care to patients. Our nursing team showcases their expertise, critical thinking, and judgment. This 19-bed unit provides care for patients requiring ICU-level neuroscience and medical attention. The patient demographic in the Neuro ICU includes those undergoing cranial surgery, neuro-endovascular procedures, and individuals with neuro-medical conditions such as strokes, as well as other medical conditions necessitating intensive care. Deaconess Gateway Hospital is recognized as a certified Primary Stroke Center by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program.
Qualifications: Certifications/Licenses/Education:
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider certification within six months of hire.
- Completion of high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Successful completion of PCT training as mandated by the care center/unit.
