About Elegen

We are a rapidly growing company at the forefront of synthetic DNA production, seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our scientific computing team, you will play a crucial role in developing quantitative and incisive analyses of DNA sequence attributes and NGS data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Algorithm Development: Design and implement machine learning algorithms to advance our novel synthetic DNA production platform.
  • Data Visualization: Create data visualizations to inform collaborators about the impact of models on current and future products.
  • Model Optimization: Identify optimal model architectures, feature sets, hyperparameters, and metrics for model performance.
  • Process Improvement: Apply machine learning and feature engineering to identify potential improvements to our processes and products.
  • Dataset Management: Manage datasets for model training and feature investigation.
  • Integration: Collaborate with software teams to integrate machine learning models into commercial workflows.
Requirements
  • Education: B.S. with 3+ years of experience or M.S. in machine learning or data science.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with bench science and software teams.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, knowledge of database architecture and querying (SQL), and familiarity with software development best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Production Experience: Experience with ML model integration in production environments in AWS.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Rust or C#/C++ (Rust is preferred).
  • Biological Applications: Experience with development of AI/ML methods for biological applications.
  • Molecular Biology: Familiarity with molecular biology reactions and methods.
  • Gene Synthesis: Familiarity with gene synthesis methods.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual base salary compensation for this role, with a range of $140,000 - $180,000, depending on location. Final compensation also includes bonus, equity, and benefits. Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location.
