Job Title: Middle School Geography Teacher

Reports to: Site Administrator(s)

Compensation: Teacher's Salary Schedule based on valid teaching experience

Overtime Status: Exempt

Position Summary

As a Middle School Geography Teacher at Sapulpa Public Schools, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth. You will develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Sapulpa's Board of Education standards, and provide individualized instruction to meet the needs of each student.

Minimum Qualifications/Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Oklahoma Teaching Certification
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach geography to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Sapulpa's Board of Education
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
  • Utilize grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
  • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
  • Communicate with parents through various means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems
  • Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning
  • Actively participate in the implementation of the SPS digital learning model for student learning
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities
  • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
  • Extra Duty responsibilities may apply to this position
  • Integrate technology resources into the curriculum using the district's technology initiative plans
