Assistant Athletic Trainer

James Madison University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our student-athletes, particularly in the Women's Lacrosse program.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and coordinate high-level athletic healthcare services to student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, clinical management, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.
- Ensure emergency readiness at all practices and competitions, adhering to the JMU Emergency Action Plan.
- Engage in effective communication with coaching staff, strength and conditioning staff, sports medicine staff/physicians, athletic administration, and Integrated Health and Sports Performance Team.
- Contribute to a team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements and exploring opportunities to enhance services to the department.
- Assist with scheduling, organization, and completion of student-athlete pre-participation and exit physical examinations.
- Coordinate timely referrals and communications with JMU Team Physicians regarding student-athlete injuries, medical conditions, and plan of care.
- Provide appropriate coverage for practices, strength/conditioning sessions, and competitions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records on all student-athletes in a timely, efficient, and confidential manner.
- Counsel and educate student-athletes regarding their injuries and treatment plans.
- Serve as a clinical preceptor to athletic training students.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant institutional, Conference, NCAA, and Commonwealth of Virginia regulations.
- Master's degree
- Hold BOC certification, have a Virginia license to practice Athletic Training, or be eligible for licensure
- Ability to effectively communicate with multiple parties within the athletic department and campus community
- NCAA experience with lacrosse and/or Olympic sports
