Ultrasound Technologist

Job Summary:
Northern Dutchess Hospital is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Kingston. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in various areas, including OB/GYN, abdomen, pediatric extremities, and vascular procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform exams following modality-specific protocols, resulting in high-quality images using appropriate imaging techniques.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of ancillary equipment, such as laser cameras, fluoroscopic equipment, and contrast injectors.
- Store, handle, and administer contrast agents, including barium, iodinated oral contrast, and intravenous contrast agents.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient and procedural data, including patient history, exam title, patient demographics, and modality-specific questionnaires and screening tools.
- Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results and minimizing anxiety.
- Apply safety principles to minimize risks to patients, self, and others, following established standards such as ALARA, Image Gently, and MRI safety.
- Conduct ongoing patient assessment, monitoring patient conditions and assuming responsibility for provision of physical or psychological needs during procedures.
- Assist with modality-specific QA/QC procedures, ensuring equipment operates within manufacturers' and regulatory guidelines.
- Assume responsibility for assigned areas, ensuring rooms are clean, stocked with supplies, and meet standards set by each modality.
- Participate in modality-specific PI Plans and contribute to the efficient operation of the department through communication with lead technologists, training equipment, patients, and other staff members.
- Demonstrate computer literacy and application with computer programs, including HIS, RIS, PACS, and ancillary CAD applications.
- Display analytical and basic problem-solving skills and follow all time and attendance policies.
- Attend educational programs related to job responsibilities as required and maintain all licenses and professional accreditation, including society-specific CMEs as required.
Requirements:
- Graduate from an A.M.A.-approved school of Sonography.
- RDMS or ARRT (S) certification strongly preferred; unregistered sonographers must be registered within one year of hire date.
- 2 years of experience preferred.
Work Environment:
Kingston-1240 Ulster Ave. Per Diem, Day/Eve 8, as needed. FTE: 0.01. Org Unit: 1343. Department: Diagnostics/Imaging - MMK. Exempt: No. Grade: U10. Salary Range: $54.39 Hourly.
Essential Functions:
- Some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
- Some occupational risk.
- Very Heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. force.
- Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
