Compensation:
$18-$20/hr based on experience and skill level.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Saturday with Wednesdays off. Expected to work 36-40 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Client Communication:
Provide updates on hospitalized animals, instructions for home care, pre- and post-operative guidance, and medication administration support. Address client inquiries with confidence and refer complex questions to veterinarians.
Client Education & Support:
Inform clients about preventive care, wellness protocols by age, vaccination needs, laboratory processes, and assist with financial policies by preparing estimates and discussing commitments.
Customer Service:
Welcome clients and their pets into examination rooms, ensure smooth transitions to the front desk, and promote the practice's products and services.
Animal Handling & Care:
Safely and compassionately restrain animals, assist veterinarians during medical, surgical, and dental procedures, prepare patients for surgery, administer anesthesia, monitor patients throughout surgery and recovery, and provide fluid therapy.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance:
Properly maintain all surgical instruments, oversee hospital equipment and inventory, and ensure that the surgery room, ICU, exam rooms, and treatment areas are clean and organized.
Record Keeping:
Accurately maintain patient records using a digital medical record system, ensuring all procedures, vaccinations, and notes are documented for proper billing.
Pharmacy Assistance:
Support the dispensing of medications as directed by the veterinarian, prepare prescription labels, and package medications appropriately.
Safety & Technical Skills:
Adhere to DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety protocols; administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; conduct laboratory tests, radiographs, and electrocardiograms; place IV catheters; and perform emergency interventions such as bleeding control and external cardiac massage.
Qualifications:
1+ years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
Ability to handle animals with care and compassion.
Knowledgeable about common health conditions and able to notify veterinarians of changes in patient status.
Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety regulations.
