Job Summary
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to assist the Chief Inspector on complex projects. This role involves ensuring the successful completion of projects by conducting thorough inspections and verifying compliance with plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Material Testing: Perform and direct field testing of construction materials, analyze test results, and verify material quality.
- Construction Verification: Verify the dimensions and tolerances of constructed roadway features to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with the Chief Inspector and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Requirements
- Experience: A combination of one year of experience in contract administration, bridge maintenance, bridge safety inspection, design, hydraulics, materials, soils, permits, planning, pre-design, right of way, road surface/roadside maintenance, snow/ice, surveys, and/or traffic engineering.
- Education: A two-year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or a four-year degree in Architectural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, Land Surveying/Geomatics, or equivalent.
- Licensing: Possess or obtain a Class A or B Commercial Drivers License with no Air Brake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 5 months of initial placement.
