Position Overview:
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist plays a crucial role in the education, supervision, exercise planning, enhancement of functional capacity, and management of risk factors for patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions. This role emphasizes wellness through community health screenings and initiatives. Collaboration with other health professionals, including exercise specialists, registered nurses, dieticians, and other healthcare providers, is essential. The specialist may also be cross-trained in additional areas such as diabetes education, EKG, and stress testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Care Coordinator for Phase 2 and 3 participants, evaluating clinical progress daily and establishing individual goals to optimize cardiac risk management.
  • Engage in wellness screenings, conducting biometric assessments, providing education, assisting in goal setting, and evaluating risk factors and lifestyle modifications.
  • Exhibit proficient assessment capabilities, recognizing arrhythmias, adverse symptoms, and medication side effects, while effectively communicating and documenting any concerning events to appropriate personnel.
  • Build rapport with patients and their families, providing instruction and addressing inquiries regarding therapy.
  • Identify and advocate for cardiopulmonary referrals.
  • Initiate interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop individualized exercise programs for Phase 2 and 3 participants.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess patients accurately, implement clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required:
Education - Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Exercise and Sports Science

Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years in Cardiology; 1+ years in Healthcare; 1+ years in Rehabilitation
Education - Master’s degree in a Health-Related Field
Certifications - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) - National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA); Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) - American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)

Physical Requirements:
Medium work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours, which may involve night shifts or irregular hours.
