POSITION TITLE: Testing Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Disability Services
INTRODUCTION:
The Testing Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering an accessible and inclusive assessment environment for students with disabilities. Reporting directly to the Director of Disability Services, this position is integral in ensuring the integrity of the testing center and overseeing all facets of the examination process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all test-takers.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding student information and documentation.
- Ensure the security and integrity of all examinations and the testing environment.
- Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to communicate testing policies and procedures.
- Adhere strictly to university and departmental testing policies.
- Manage daily operations of the testing process, including verifying student identification and proctoring exams.
- Coordinate with faculty and students to schedule assessments and confirm accommodations.
- Work alongside Disability Services staff to ensure tests are provided in formats accessible to students as per their accommodations.
- Utilize assistive technologies to convert exams into accessible formats when necessary.
- Provide support as a scribe or reader when required.
- Train and supervise student staff on testing policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development activities as approved by the Director.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Disability Services office by completing assigned projects and collaborating with team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
- Excellent judgment and sensitivity to confidential information.
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
- Two or more years of experience in higher education.
- Knowledge of disability issues in educational settings.
- Familiarity with assistive technology.
- Experience working with neurodiverse students and those with sensory disabilities.
- Experience in coordinating equitable access for students.
