Job Overview:
This role is situated within the finance team at DRI. The successful candidate will be integral in guaranteeing the precise, efficient, and timely execution of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions. This includes maintaining and overseeing the general ledger accounts and business transactions in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position demands analytical skills and a meticulous review of financial documentation, particularly in a dynamic work environment. A critical aspect of this role involves accounting for and assessing the value of the company's inventory, alongside various Inventory & General Ledger responsibilities, while providing essential financial insights to organizational leaders for informed decision-making.

Responsibilities:
Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring all business transactions comply with accepted accounting standards (GAAP).
  • Leading the month-end and year-end closing activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries to guarantee timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assisting with Fixed Asset schedules, encompassing depreciation, disposals, and roll forwards.
  • Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies across various accounts, including bank, credit cards, and accounts receivable.
  • Preparing journal entries and reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Collaborating with the finance team on annual budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
  • Working with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assisting with bookkeeping, monthly closing processes, and sales tax management.
  • Analyzing cost data, including product costs, labor expenses, overheads, and variances.
  • Reviewing supply chain inventory processes and managing adjustments in the General Ledger.
  • Preparing cost-related journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  • Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to inventory.
  • Generating regular cost reports and presenting findings to management, providing insights for cost-related targets.
  • Collaborating with Accounts Payable on adjustments based on procurement processes.
  • Identifying process inefficiencies, developing corrective action plans, and implementing process improvements.
  • Working with supply chain teams to provide inventory forecasts and performance comparisons.
  • Filing Sales & Use Tax Returns.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and readiness.
  • Assisting management with reporting and special projects as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Behaviors:
Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in General Accounting, Cost Accounting, or Inventory Analysis.
  • Experience in cost accounting within manufacturing or distribution sectors is preferred.
  • Proficiency in filing sales and use tax returns.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • At least 2 years of experience with QuickBooks.
  • Familiarity with Fishbowl is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and deadline management skills.
  • Attention to detail, with excellent organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A genuine interest in the field of accounting.
