Job Summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to join our team on 5 West, a 30-bed neuroscience unit. As a Nursing Assistant I, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information, promptly reporting significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Perform various patient care tasks, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, and range of motion exercises.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees and students, and assist with routine clerical functions.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED)
  • Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience
