Job Summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at a correctional facility in Mississippi. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality patient care within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
  • Monitor patients as directed by the HSA, DON, RN, or Medical Director or other practitioner.
  • Implement nursing care within the LPN's scope of practice, including compliance with all laws as applicable in the practice setting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of teaching plans based on the individual needs of the patient.
  • Administer medications to offenders.
  • Provide for the care of multiple patients as directed by the Medical Director, DON, or Registered Nurse.
  • Monitor vital signs and report changes to appropriate medical staff.
  • Document actions in the MAR and medical records.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
  • Possesses an active CPR certification.
  • Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
  • Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of correctional healthcare policies and procedures.
