Job Summary

The Cashier is a key member of our sales team, responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring a smooth checkout process. This role involves handling customer transactions, operating a cash register, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Project a positive image of Westlake Ace Hardware and provide exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Greet customers entering and throughout the store, thanking them by name when possible.
    • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently, answering and monitoring calls and pages promptly and effectively.
    • Communicate any issues or problems that require management assistance.
    • Build product knowledge and assist customers with store layout and product location.
    • Assist with pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.
  • Register Operations
    • Follow all cash register transaction procedures and balance the register drawer.
    • Adhere to any store programs or promotions that require implementation at the cash registers.
    • Participate in store and cashier meetings.
  • Front End Appearance and Upkeep
    • Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean at all times.
    • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotating fresh merchandise as seasons change.
    • Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.
    • Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
    • Assist with decorating the front end according to the store program.
    • Call for cart pickups when necessary.
    • Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.

  • Requirements
    • High school or GED equivalent.
    • Cashier experience preferred. Customer service experience preferred.
