As an Automotive Appearance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that vehicles meet the highest standards of presentation according to customer expectations. This position involves a comprehensive range of cleaning tasks for both the interior and exterior of vehicles.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Thoroughly clean and declutter the interior by removing all trash and debris from areas such as ashtrays, consoles, dashboards, door panels, seats, and more, including the trunk and engine compartment.
  • Remove any license plates and stickers, as well as any writing from windows that is not relevant to company business. Disassemble spare tires located in the trunk.
  • Utilize high-pressure washers or automatic car wash systems to wash vehicles. Apply cleaning chemicals, power-wash the engine compartment, and clean battery terminals.
  • Meticulously clean doorjambs, sills, interior panels, wheels, tires, hub caps, wheel wells, moldings, bumpers, head and taillights, spare tires, exterior panels, trunk, hood, and both interior and exterior windows. Detail vehicles by using specialized brushes to clean and dress trim, molding, weather stripping, instrument panels, steering wheels, and dash moldings.
  • Buff vehicles by applying dressing to the engine compartment, wheels, wheel wells, and tires, as well as vinyl tops. Use compounds, cleaners, and/or polish on vehicles, buffing out imperfections with a rotary buffer or by hand as needed. Wax and buff all painted surfaces of vehicles using a hand buffer.
  • Vacuum the interior, scrub, shampoo, and spot clean carpets and upholstery. Ensure seatbelts are straightened.
  • Organize the glove box, ensuring that the warranty booklet, owner's manual, and other manufacturer-issued materials are returned properly.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by adhering to all safety and health protocols and actively participating in safety initiatives.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management, which may include driving vehicles to designated clean car staging areas.
Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a detailing shop or buffing is advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to operate vehicles with both standard and automatic transmissions is preferred.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
  • Medium strength is necessary, with the ability to lift light tools and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive motion tasks are essential.
  • Vision capabilities must include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
