Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients.
  • Confirms patient identity and gathers comprehensive health histories.
  • Advises on and assesses necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Records detailed pre-anesthetic evaluations.
  • Secures informed consent for anesthesia procedures.
  • Selects, prepares, and administers anesthetic agents or related medications.
  • Communicates any changes in patient status to the anesthesiologist or surgeon.
  • Administers anesthesia during procedures and provides post-anesthesia care.
  • Inserts invasive lines and catheters as required.
  • Performs tracheal intubation and manages airways effectively.
  • Delivers mechanical ventilation support.
  • Executes venous and arterial punctures for blood sampling.
  • Conducts regional anesthesia management and monitoring.
  • Oversees the patient’s fluid, blood, electrolyte, and acid-base balance.
  • Utilizes current standards and techniques for perianesthetic monitoring.
  • Identifies and addresses cardiac dysrhythmias through ECG monitoring.
  • Evaluates patient recovery from anesthesia and administers necessary treatments.
  • Provides follow-up evaluations and reports on patient responses to anesthesia.
  • Maintains and sterilizes equipment, reporting any needs for repairs.
  • May engage in patient care to uphold clinical expertise and licensure.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in airway management and chronic pain management techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Thorough understanding of contemporary anesthesia practices.
  • Strong patient assessment capabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both oral and written communication.
  • Familiarity with word processing and PC applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a CRNA in an acute care environment.
  • Current RN License is mandatory.
  • Preferred: Valid state APRN Recognition.
  • Certification as a CRNA is required.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications are necessary.
