The primary duties of the Culinary Services Associate involve delivering exceptional food service and hospitality while adhering to proper etiquette and courtesy for diners at SUNNYSIDE PRESBYTERIAN HOME. This role also includes contributions to catering events and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prior experience in the food service industry is advantageous.
  • Ability to accurately process information, make sound decisions, and take appropriate actions based on available data.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; proficiency in grammar is essential.
  • Strong customer service orientation; maintain a welcoming approach when interacting with all individuals.
Essential Duties:
  • Review and comprehend instructions and information on breakdown sheets, labels, and dietary information cards, including food preparation requirements (regular, pureed, mechanical soft), portion sizes, resident preferences, and allergies to ensure proper service.
  • Prepare food or ensure that pre-prepared food is ready for service at resident meal times, served at the correct temperature and as requested.
  • Deliver trays to designated areas as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation and service areas.
  • Post menus for residents as necessary.
  • Clear and reset tables in dining areas, ensuring readiness for the next shift.
  • Dispose of trash appropriately and maintain waste management practices.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment; clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and serving trays post-meal.
  • Utilize kitchen equipment, including dishwashers, garbage disposals, microwaves, griddles, and toasters, to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Stock, remove, cover, and store all food items and condiments, ensuring proper labeling and dating of all food products. Discard items as required by regulations.
  • Implement the First In, First Out method for food delivery and check expiration dates on all stock.
  • Store cleaning chemicals and sanitizing solutions in designated areas.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new staff members in their roles.
  • Participate in special events as assigned.
  • Fulfill all training requirements as mandated by Federal and State Regulations, as well as company and community policies.
  • Exhibit a commitment to safety by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines; maintain good housekeeping practices, care for equipment, and perform job duties responsibly.
  • Demonstrate reliability, dependability, and punctuality by reporting to work as scheduled, prepared to perform duties.
