Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

To support U.S. Urology by performing diagnostic imaging examinations, such as x-rays, on patients.
Key Responsibilities- Adjust and maintain imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Precisely follow orders from physicians on what areas of the body to image.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including taking a medical history and answering questions about the procedure.
- Guide patients through the process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.
- Protect the patient by shielding exposed areas that do not need to be imaged.
- Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking diagnostic images following established procedures.
- Operate the computerized equipment to take the images.
- Work with physicians to evaluate the images and to determine whether additional images need to be taken.
- Keep detailed patient records.
- Administer contrast as needed, in a safe and effective manner.
- Monitor patient's wellbeing during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
- Respond to physician questions and needs regarding patients.
- Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
- Examines radiology film for properties such as density and contracts, definition, magnification and distortion.
- Maintains examinations rooms, and stocks necessary medical and radiological supplies.
- Clean and make minor adjustments to radiological equipment.
- Participate in projects and/or meetings, and complete other tasks as assigned by management.
- Willing to travel to other locations for business needs.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Performs related work as required.
- Two years of experience working in a medical practice as an imaging tech.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Electronic Medical Records Experience.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
