Your Role: Veterinary Site Consultant

In the capacity of a Veterinary Site Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential technical support and leadership to clinical teams at various sites. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the integrity of experimental designs, adherence to protocols, compliance with regulations, and the execution of veterinary diagnostics and treatments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor clinical staff in conducting study-related tasks, including procedures, observations, and data collection.
  • Administer emergency care, conduct animal assessments, and oversee health monitoring for herds or colonies.
  • Train clinical execution associates in both fundamental and advanced veterinary techniques, while staying updated through professional development and collaboration.
  • Coordinate clinical activities in support of R&D, quality control, and reference requalification, engaging with leading scientists and regulatory bodies.
  • Advise on clinical, operational, and animal welfare aspects during the development of study protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Design and implement biosecurity measures in partnership with the Animal Welfare Veterinarian, contributing to facility design and upgrades.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, executing study protocols, including administration of test articles and data management.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other veterinarians for research and product release activities.
Qualifications for Success:
  • Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) required, with a valid license to practice in the United States.
  • Experience: Proven clinical skills in both field and laboratory settings.
  • Essential Skills: Veterinary expertise and the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed veterinarian in the state of Iowa.
  • Familiarity with USDA regulations and guidelines for the care and use of laboratory and agricultural animals.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an environment regulated by animal welfare standards.
  • Experience in the animal health industry with a solid understanding of pre-clinical and clinical models, along with direct management experience.
  • Prior experience with facility audits.
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than direct authority.

  • Travel: Less than 10% annually.
