Position Summary: We are seeking a full-time, experienced Pharmacy Technician to support our infusion services across various locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the technical aspects of medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing under supervision.
- Verify completeness of orders, ensuring accurate patient information and physician authorization.
- Confirm insurance approvals prior to medication preparation, adhering to departmental guidelines.
- Accurately calculate dosages and maintain records of controlled substances.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards by properly disposing of materials used in medication preparation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of drug information and safety data sheets.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering and shelving medications, while ensuring adequate supply levels.
- Prepare medication labels and maintain accurate logs for protocol and patient assistance drugs.
- Participate in ongoing education to stay informed about new medications and procedures.
- Travel between locations is required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience, particularly in IV admixtures and sterile compounding.
- Preferred experience in oncology settings.
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program, with certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board preferred.
- Experience with inventory management and automated dispensing systems is advantageous.
- Retail pharmacy experience is a plus.
