Job Overview

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication abilities, as well as the capacity to collaborate effectively within a project team environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in innovative projects and advance professionally within our Michigan office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with seasoned engineers on tasks related to bridge design, structural analysis, calculations, and load rating assessments.
  • Serve as a design engineer on projects involving bridges or retaining walls.
  • Assist in the formulation of project budgets, timelines, and comprehensive reports.
  • Exhibit both theoretical and practical knowledge in civil engineering and specialized software applications.
  • Work closely with diverse technical teams at Fishbeck to deliver bridge design and consulting services, primarily for municipal and state transportation agencies.
Physical Requirements

Occasional light lifting, sitting, and walking are required. Duties will involve fieldwork, necessitating access to and navigation around project sites, as well as computer usage. Travel to various project locations is essential. Proficiency in communication and documentation equipment is necessary, along with visual acuity to fulfill job responsibilities.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan is advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in bridge design with a solid understanding of AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications.
  • Familiarity with MDOT bridge standards and guidelines is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of AASHTOWare BrR and OpenBridge Designer is a plus.
  • Experience in bridge inspection and load rating evaluations is advantageous.
  • Hydraulic knowledge and familiarity with HEC-RAS software are beneficial.
  • Strong computer skills and effective verbal communication abilities are essential.
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn are crucial.
