This Senior Academic Advisor will play a critical role in providing academic guidance and support to undergraduate students in various programs at West Virginia University. The successful candidate will serve as a primary advisor for students in Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics, Health Informatics & Information Management, Immunology & Medical Microbiology, and Respiratory Therapy programs, among others. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field and at least two years of experience in higher education, customer service, and student information systems, including BANNER. They will possess excellent communication skills, be able to organize and prioritize tasks effectively, and demonstrate problem-solving abilities.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Academic Advising: Meeting with students prior to each registration period to ensure they are taking correct degree-pursuant coursework and staying on track to graduate.
- Matriculation Planning: Setting matriculation and degree plans in DegreeWorks, working with program departments and the Assistant Dean to ensure accuracy and updates.
- Registration Issues: Ensuring students are properly registered each term, removing term PINS, and approving online overrides for restricted classes.
Working Conditions and Benefits:
- 37.5-hour work week
- 13 paid holidays (staff holiday calendar)
- 24 annual leave (vacation) days per year or more based on years of service
- 18 sick days per year
