About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Tech First Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our patients and the smooth operation of our surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team to perform safe and successful operations.
  • Assist with patient preparation and positioning for surgery.
  • Provide visualization of the operative field and assist with closure of body planes.
  • Harvest saphenous vein for coronary artery grafting purposes under the direct supervision of the surgeon.
  • Utilize sterile technique and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assistant program.
  • 5 years of experience working in surgery.
  • Certified Surgical Assistant or Certified First Assistant certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in Surgical First Assisting.
  • Certified course in Endoscopic Saphenous Vein Harvesting.
