The primary role involves achieving targeted gross margin and profit objectives for a designated business segment. This position emphasizes the importance of selecting an optimal merchandise assortment to meet or surpass company objectives, leveraging extensive knowledge of merchandising principles and management strategies to enhance retail space utilization and return on investment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Merchandise Director to curate product offerings and define private brand selections.
  • Conduct market research to analyze trends and lifestyles, guiding the design and launch of ready-to-market jewelry.
  • Provide strategic guidance for marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all follow-ups and placements align with product specifications, quality standards, and contractual deadlines, while adhering to pricing strategies and timelines.
  • Develop merchandise assortment strategies, establish seasonal goals, set appropriate pricing, and monitor sales performance, adjusting the merchandise mix as necessary for optimal success.
  • Work closely with Design, Retail, Manufacturing, Internet, and Marketing teams to manage retail pricing, merchandise flow, and timely product delivery.
  • Guarantee compliance with legal requirements for products, ensuring proper packaging and labeling.
  • Maintain open communication with all stakeholders involved in the development process to achieve the best outcomes for the company.
  • Build collaborative relationships with all parties engaged in the creation and production of private branded merchandise, ensuring design integrity is maintained throughout the process.
  • Coordinate with merchandising and design teams to establish market calendars.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in regular design review sessions with cross-functional category partners.
  • Act as a liaison with vendors during the product development phase to ensure timely progress of samples.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A true professional in the jewelry industry with a keen understanding of contemporary fashion trends, capable of adapting them to our merchandise selection.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong analytical abilities coupled with effective communication, time management, and organizational skills, with a focus on detail and multitasking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-driven, innovative thinker with problem-solving capabilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with 5-10 years of experience in a progressive national jewelry manufacturing or retail environment, whether in mass market, department store, or specialty store settings.
