Patient Access Representative

UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine, and the only academic health system based in Orange County. Our organization is comprised of its main campus, UCI Medical Center, a 459-bed, acute care hospital in Orange, Calif., four hospitals and affiliated physicians of the UCI Health Community Network in Orange and Los Angeles counties and ambulatory care centers across the region.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions. You will also be responsible for obtaining complete and accurate patient demographic information and employing proper, compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during & after date of service.
Responsibilities
• Perform scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions
• Obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information
• Employ proper, compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during & after date of service
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and families
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required
• 0-1 year in Customer Service role
• 0-1 year administrative experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area preferred
• Some college coursework required
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
