Position Overview
This is a part-time role requiring commitment for 5 days a week.
Working Hours: Afternoon shifts.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Performing administrative tasks to ensure all necessary documentation is accurate and current.
- Administering First Aid to students and staff as needed.
- Providing medical intervention support for specific conditions as approved by the relevant authorities, which necessitates specialized training and regular updates.
- Communicating with parents and guardians regarding their children's medical needs when First Aid is administered.
- Maintaining First Aid kits and yard duty bags throughout the institution, including provisions for camps and excursions.
- Ordering, storing, and monitoring medications and medical supplies to keep the First Aid cupboard well-stocked and up-to-date.
- Documenting all First Aid visits and incidents accurately.
- Ensuring that health records for students requiring special attention are current and comprehensive.
- Keeping the sick bay clean, organized, and free of clutter.
- Coordinating and ensuring staff complete necessary First Aid training, including but not limited to Level 2, anaphylaxis, asthma, and diabetes training.
- Developing and implementing effective strategies for First Aid administration.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Business Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage student health and wellbeing documentation in accordance with relevant policies.
- Provide professional health advice and First Aid services.
- Offer strategic guidance on support services and their effects on students and educational programs.
- Oversee the use of school resources related to health and First Aid.
- Support and promote Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.
- Manage the school health center effectively.
- Administer medications in compliance with school policies.
- Ensure all medications on site are current and not expired.
- Maintain up-to-date student management plans.
- Provide health education and resources related to specific health conditions.
- Complete necessary documentation and reporting as required by educational authorities.
- Assist teachers in managing students with health issues.
- Engage in professional development activities as necessary.
- Lead mandatory training sessions for staff on health-related topics.
- Fulfill other duties as directed by the Principal or Business Manager.
