Job Overview

Position Overview: This role involves providing assistance to various recreational initiatives within the City, ensuring a welcoming environment for participants and visitors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Recreation program team; tasks may differ based on specific assignments.
  • Help in the setup and upkeep of recreational venues; verify that supplies and equipment are well-maintained, and suggest any necessary repairs or additional supplies to the supervisor.
  • Respond to public inquiries and phone calls at facilities; offer fundamental information regarding recreational programs to participants and the community.
  • Maintain attendance and participant records as instructed; may be responsible for collecting and managing fees.
  • Assist in enforcing the rules, regulations, and safety measures of municipal facilities.
  • Identify, avoid, and report unsafe behaviors, conditions, incidents, and injuries.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness and overall appearance of the assigned facility.
  • Assist with administrative tasks; keep track of supplies and materials inventory.
  • If designated, may be required to manage 'lake/park gates' during weekends and holidays, including fee collection for vehicle entry.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Licenses or Certifications Required:

  • Reliable transportation is necessary or a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Knowledge Required:

  • Familiarity with City policies, procedures, safety regulations, and guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of indoor and outdoor recreational activities and games.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to engage positively and informatively with the public.

Abilities Required:

  • Experience working with both children and adults.
  • Capability to supervise programs effectively.
  • Ability to oversee recreational centers.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Must be prepared to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Dependable transportation is a must.
