Daily Responsibilities:

  • The team is responsible for building and maintaining the core Java architecture API and components that support much of the Life Science and Analytics technology.
  • They deliver solutions and capabilities for various teams to facilitate complex big data transfer and analysis (handling datasets with billions of records) and assist in the transition to cloud services.
  • The team is expected to produce high-quality, innovative, and efficient solutions while providing top-notch support for developed applications.
  • Responsibilities will include collaboration with developers and architects, as well as potential involvement with internal users through proof-of-concept or project initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with team members or internal users to create or understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions.
  • Adhere to architectural standards, required development processes, and coding best practices.
  • Participate in the development and evolution of the architecture.
  • Mentor other software developers, providing coding assistance, code reviews, and process guidance.
  • Design and/or work with complex data models.
  • Resolve intricate technical challenges.
  • Stay updated on new technology developments, both internally and externally.
  • Create, maintain, and/or review technical documentation for internal users.

Experience and Education:

  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience (All Java)
  • BS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Advanced engineering degree is highly preferred

Essential Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of expert-level Core Java knowledge and development experience.
  • Experience in creating multithreaded Java applications.
  • Proficiency with lambda functions.
  • Familiarity with core design patterns (Singleton, Factory, etc.).
  • Experience in creating and deploying applications on Azure cloud.
  • Primarily backend development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Azure cloud.
  • Ability to articulate multiple Azure subscriptions and development experience on the cloud.
  • 5+ years of experience in scaling/migrating applications using microservices architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience working with REST Web Services.
  • 3-5+ years with Spring, Spring Boot (Spring suite).
  • Some knowledge and understanding of Generative AI, preferably Azure OpenAI.
  • 2+ years of experience working with ML/AI Models in some capacity.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills involving identifying, researching, and coordinating resources to troubleshoot complex issues and find effective solutions.
  • Strong data manipulation and analysis skills.
  • Considerable experience in constructing and troubleshooting applications deployed in Azure.
  • Extensive experience in building, troubleshooting, and analyzing performance of complex, multithreaded Java applications.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Generative AI Tools
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI - a significant advantage
  • Familiarity with Github CoPilot
  • Experience with GPT
  • Experience in improving existing ML models
  • Experience in training LLMs

Compensation:

  • The salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $180,000 annually.
  • Factors influencing pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
