Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cook to join our culinary team at the Good Samaritan Society. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and effective food preparation and service.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including entrees, sides, and desserts, using standardized recipes and cooking techniques.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality, taste, and appearance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor inventory and ordering of food and supplies, and manage kitchen budgets and expenses.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as dietary and nutrition, to ensure that meals meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a kitchen leadership role, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles, and ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
