Position Title: Retail Sales Representative / Merchandise Handler

Overview:

The Salvation Army is seeking dedicated individuals to join our retail team as Retail Sales Representatives and Merchandise Handlers. In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing the shopping experience for our customers. Your responsibilities will include providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers in finding their desired items, and ensuring the store is well-stocked and visually appealing.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate a Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Successful completion of a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry
  • Effective communication skills with management, team members, customers, and donors

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform various repetitive motion tasks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet all customers and donors, providing prompt and courteous assistance
  • Stock and organize merchandise on the sales floor according to established standards
  • Sort and process donations in alignment with organizational guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the store
  • Adhere to all POS policies and procedures
  • Report any safety hazards to management
  • Participate in required team meetings
  • Work flexible hours to ensure adequate store coverage
  • Assist in receiving and stocking inventory efficiently
  • Inspect products for quality assurance
  • Support donors in unloading items and provide receipts
  • Sort and categorize donated materials appropriately
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.
