About the Department:

The Web Services division is dedicated to creating and enhancing digital platforms that facilitate the operational efficiency of the institution, supporting both students and faculty. The team collaborates with various data systems to streamline processes and enhance functionality. Information Technology and Engineering Computing Services (ITECS) is committed to delivering a premier computing environment for the college community, achieved through direct IT support, collaboration with other IT units, and engagement with faculty, staff, and students.

Essential Job Duties:

This role is integral to the ITECS Web Service team, focusing on the design, development, testing, and refinement of software utilized by diverse stakeholders within the college. The primary responsibility involves the creation of essential web-based applications. Development will be conducted using a LAMP stack with a Laravel framework and additional technologies as required.

The position is tasked with developing digital platforms that enhance college operations and departmental functions. This includes working with various data systems to analyze and automate workflows. Examples of solutions developed in this role include:

  • ABET Program Assessment Tool (PAT)
  • Engineering Online Student Registration Portal
  • Engineering Foundation Donation Tracker

Additionally, the role involves maintaining legacy systems built with PHP, JavaScript, and HTML, utilizing MySQL and MariaDB databases alongside libraries such as jQuery. New software will be created and updated in Laravel, following best practices in the Github repository system. The position will also involve developing sites using Vuetify, adhering to Material Design principles.Other Responsibilities:

Staying informed about emerging technologies and methodologies is crucial, including:

  • Laravel, Eloquent, and PHP frameworks.
  • Vuetify front-end frameworks.
  • MariaDB and Oracle database systems.
  • Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
  • Sprint planning and execution using Kanban methods for collaborative software development projects.
Technical Support:

This position will provide second-tier technical support for all application systems developed by ITECS, which includes:

  • Diagnosing incidents reported in ServiceNow.
  • Assessing the impact of software and data modifications.
  • Interpreting specifications from subject matter experts.
  • Preparing software for operational changes.
  • Making necessary modifications to resolve issues.
  • Collaborating with other university departments to achieve solutions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree OR
  • Bachelor's degree with zero – two years of relevant experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience
Other Required Qualifications:

Technical expertise must include:

  • Relational data design and architecture
  • Data normalization principles
  • ACID compliance for database transactions
  • Transactionalization for grouped database operations
  • SQL DQL, DML, DDL, and DCL proficiency
  • Understanding of relational integrity
Project Involvement:
