This role involves operative call, routine surgical procedures, and clinic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will assist in covering maternity leaves, ensuring seamless patient care during this period.
Coverage Requirements: The position entails covering two maternity leaves, with potential for ongoing locum coverage thereafter.
- Schedule: Typical hours are 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, with daily operative responsibilities and some clinic time.
- Call Responsibilities: Call begins nightly at 5 PM, primarily for operative cases as determined by the supervising surgeon.
- Team Collaboration: Candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively, with the possibility of splitting call duties if two Physician Assistants are hired.
- Setting: This role is situated within an academic medical center.
- FTE: We are looking for two full-time equivalents (1.0 FTE) to fulfill daily work and call obligations.
- Key Duties: Responsibilities include operative first assisting and endoscopic vessel harvesting for cardiothoracic procedures.
- Required Skills: Candidates should have experience in routine cardiac surgeries, including AVR, MVR, CABG, and may also assist in vascular and thoracic surgeries.
- Support Staff: You will work alongside a dedicated team of CVOR technicians, nurses, and anesthesia professionals.
- Reason for Coverage: This position is essential to cover maternity leaves of current staff members.
- Team Player: A collaborative approach is crucial to ensure comprehensive coverage during this time.
