About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at Riverside Medical Clinic. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture and processing patient specimens for analysis or other medical purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients in preparation for venipuncture procedures, explaining the process to gain cooperation and understanding.
  • Perform venipuncture using universal precautions and approved techniques to ensure appropriate patient care.
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation as required for each exam performed.
  • Utilize the Order Entry System to access orders and complete exams.
  • Obtain specimens, ensure adequate quantity for tests ordered, label and store specimens in appropriate containers, and complete applicable logs.
  • Respond to draw requests and with appropriate attention to order frequency and indicators of medical emergency.
  • Assist with the scheduling of tests and appointments.
  • Recognize patients' privacy and safeguard those rights.
  • Respond to life-saving situations following policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and follow-through of departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Stock supplies as necessary.
  • Process specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possess Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy certificate from an accredited training institute.
  • California State Phlebotomy Tech I certificate required.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.
