About You:

We are seeking a talented Actuarial Analyst to join our team at EmblemHealth. As an Actuarial Analyst - Data Insights Specialist, you will play a key role in analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities for reducing medical expenses. You will work closely with other areas to implement and monitor performance, and develop studies, analyses, and presentation materials to inform decision makers.



Responsibilities:




  • Actuarial Analysis: Perform actuarial tasks that require mathematical and quantitative skills, including pricing analysis, experience analysis, and financial projections.
  • Data Analysis: Run, modify, and create data queries to produce analysis and reports, and develop efficient and transparent queries to obtain data that is appropriate to the purpose.
  • Model Maintenance: Maintain appropriate controls around models and other work products, and ensure quality and on-time completion of deliverables.
  • Support and Collaboration: Support analysis of hospital, professional, and drug claim/utilization trends, membership/demographics, and other ad-hoc analyses, and collaborate with other areas to implement and monitor performance.
  • Forecasting and Monitoring: Support preparation of forecasts and monitoring of results or trends, and assist with rate filings or valuation calculations.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical and analytical support for the actuarial department, and proactively take on additional work as needed by the team.


Requirements:




  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related finance/business degree required.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of relevant, professional work experience and/or education required.
  • Actuarial Credentials: Must make sufficient progress toward obtaining actuarial credentials, defined as sitting for a minimum of one exam per year, scoring above a zero, and obtaining at least a combined score of 5 over two consecutive sittings.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Strong mathematical and analytical skills, strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), and working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and SQL, R, Python, or similar required.


What We Offer:




  • Compensation: $52,000 - $92,000 per year, based on experience.
