Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Treatment: Conduct thorough nursing assessments, prioritize treatment, and maintain patient flow to ensure optimal care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to arrange for further medical treatment when necessary.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Accurately document all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medications administered, and follow-up care arranged.
- Health Education and Promotion: Evaluate health education/promotion needs of patients and provide necessary training and instruction.
- Emergency Response: Identify emergency situations and provide care within the legal scope of practice.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and medical treatments competently as directed by a physician or licensed independent practitioner.
- Environmental Safety: Maintain a clean and safe environment, following infection control procedures and ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Follow-up and Coordination: Participate in follow-up phone calls and patient visits to ensure continuity of care.
- Certification and Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
- Education and Training: Certificate from an accredited nursing school or Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
- Experience and Skills: At least three years' experience as a Registered Nurse in an emergency room, occupational health clinic, or other ambulatory care clinic is preferred. Knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is also preferred.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing: Certification in occupational health nursing, emergency nursing, or case management is preferred.
- Electronic Medical Records: Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
- Workplace Health and Safety: Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations is preferred.
