Iron Melter

Position Overview:

McWANE INC. IS SEEKING AN IRON MELTER FOR OUR METAL CASTING FACILITY.

SHIFT: 1ST SHIFT - 9AM TO 7:30PM

COMPENSATION: STARTING AT $24.00; QUALIFIED RATE AT $24.42

HEALTH BENEFITS AVAILABLE AFTER 60 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.

The ideal candidate for the Iron Melter role will play a crucial part in preparing furnaces for the Iron Pour department, contributing to the production of components for McWANE valves and hydrants.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be tasked with the following duties:

• Loading charge carts with scrap metal.
• Preparing furnace doors with sand.
• Filling pouring ladles with molten metal.
• Accurately measuring chemical additives for molten metal.
• Pouring molten metal into molds.
• Transferring ladles to the pouring line.
• Conducting general area clean-up.
• Maintaining ladles and equipment.
• Repairing and rebuilding furnace linings.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Capability to lift more than 40 times per hour.
• Willingness to bend, twist, and stand for extended periods exceeding 8 hours.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending training materials and instructions.
• Ability to work in high-temperature environments.
• Experience working around moving machinery (e.g., cranes, hoists, forklifts).
• Familiarity with using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, metatarsal guarded boots, eye protection, hearing protection, aprons, gloves, and sleeves.
