Job Title: Staff Software Engineer Backend

Credit Genie is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer Backend to join our team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and efficient backend systems that power our consumer mobile app.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented engineer who can take ownership of key backend components and drive improvements in system design. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals and contribute to setting engineering standards that improve developer workflows, code quality, and product quality.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the backend re-architecture using Golang, helping design and implement systems that scale with the continued growth of Credit Genie.
  • Own the development of key backend components for the next 4+ years of continued scale and growth of Credit Genie.
  • Identify gaps in our current designs and address performance bottlenecks in our backend systems to improve throughput, latency, and developer velocity.
  • Help ensure system reliability by designing services with four 9s (99.99%) availability and low latency in mind.
  • Contribute to setting engineering standards that improve developer workflows, code quality, and product quality.
  • Mentor engineers to further their professional development.
  • Leverage Gen AI to improve Developer productivity, code quality, and product quality.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team environment.
  • Work with stakeholders from product, marketing, etc. on initiatives aligning with our KPIs and business priorities.
Requirements
  • Understanding of how to build a sustainable backend platform at a large scale engineering organization.
  • 8+ years of Software Development experience with at least 4+ years in a cloud environment (AWS/GCP).
  • Experience in influencing organizations on technical direction/best practices.
  • Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that improves developer's lives while also seamlessly supporting scale and reliability.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as design, product, business & data teams to deliver great experiences.
  • Strong focus on user experience, usability, scalability, reliability, and quality. You are an undying advocate for the user, and you have a deep intuition for how people & machines interact with software at scale.
  • High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise working across the entire engineering org.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed and innovative, you build trust and are biased towards action in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, owning team processes, and leading cross-functional projects is preferred.

The base pay for this role will be between $150,000 and $250,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
